Karuna Reiki
Reiki is an energy healing technique that is based on the premise that the universal life force can be redirected to a patient, using the practitioner’s intention. This therapy prefers energetic or analog conversation to verbal dialogue. Stories are non-verbally woven by the interaction of the therapist and the patient. These stories can be verbally related after the Reiki session, in a discussion.
What is Reiki?
Reiki healing is a type of hands-on energy healing, derived from Japan, in which a certified therapist puts his or her hands on or near the patient’s head, chest, throat, abdomen, knees and feet in order to re-distribute moribund energy.
How does Reiki heal?
The practice of Reiki is based on the belief that illnesses and disorders in the human body occur when the flow of vital energy or the life force through the auras is blocked. Reiki helps restore the free flow of vital energy through the body and the balance of energy, in all parts of the body. It also helps the body to accelerate the processes that enable it to heal itself.
A practitioner of Reiki has the ability to access the universal life force and transfer it to the patient. The therapist may or may not touch the patient.

What is Karuna Reiki?
Karuna Reiki is a form of Reiki in which the energy has a more definite feeling. It works on all the energy bodies simultaneously. Practitioners of Karuna Reiki have reported that they feel the energy surrounding them. Patients who are treated using Karuna Reiki have said that they feel grounded and can also feel the healing energy surround them.
Karuna Reiki was developed by William Lee Rand. He has authored a book titled “Reiki, The Healing Touch.” He founded the Center for Reiki Training in Southfield, Michigan. In addition, he is also the editor-in-chief of a quarterly journal published by the Center, called Reiki News. The focus of Karuna Reiki is the development of Karuna.
In order to study Karuna Reiki, the three traditional levels of Reiki – first degree, second degree, and third degree – are a prerequisite. Karuna Reiki has been trademarked in the United States.
Meaning of Karuna:
In Sanskrit, Karuna means compassionate action or the reduction of others suffering. An experienced practitioner of Karuna Reiki is enlightened and is able to see all beings as one. He or she gives his Karuna to all beings without discrimination.
When people help others and promote their healing, the entire being is benefited. There is a feeling of oneness and the compassionate action becomes driven not just by love, but also by logic. According to Buddhism, Karuna should be accompanied by Prajna or wisdom for the correct effect.
What is Karuna Reiki energy?
All enlightened persons are motivated by Karuna to work towards ending the suffering of people. However, not everybody is receptive toward the stream of healing energy sent by them. When one develops Karuna, he or she becomes more receptive toward Karuna Reiki energy. Thus, Karuna Reiki allows you to interact with enlightened people who are either spirits or exist physically.
Karuna reiki energy is a very intense form of energy. It has the ability to penetrate deeply. It may make you feel like you are experiencing intense heat, cold, electrical impulses, ice, lightning, vibrations or gentle, humming pulsations. It is said to take the perfect form of energy.
Karuna Reiki energy is the fundamental energetic form of energy and is able to facilitate healing of disorders very quickly. It can cause intense emotional healing and does not require the patient to re-live unpleasant emotional experiences. This form of Reiki allows the body to unravel its memories and release old application patterns.
Karuna Reiki energy does not actually heal the disorder. It encourages the healing of the physical body at the cellular level. Sometimes, spectacular physical changes can take place. This helps create a healthier response to various situations in life.

What are Karuna Reiki symbols?
Karuna Reiki symbols are the tools that the Reiki master works with. Karuna energy has more “bandwidth” than traditional Usui Reiki and these symbols are tools used to increase focus. It provides more flexibility to the therapist when he or she attempts to heal a patient.
There are eight Karuna Reiki symbols and these are briefly described next.
Level I symbols
Symbol 1: It helps the patient address issues related to his or her past life and prepares him or her for deep healing. It releases karma and deep-seated problems at the cellular level. It decreases the pain related to emotional healing by providing a sort of spiritual anesthesia. It works to remove traumatic memories, ideas from various lifetimes and negative feelings that have become embedded in our cells. This symbol can be invoked with the intention of calling upon the Archangel Gabriel, to help heal the problem.
Symbol 2: This symbol heals deeply and breaks negative patterns that we use unconsciously to mask the truth. It eliminates denial and delusion and heals the shadow self. It helps us accept our imperfections. It can treat the consequences of physical and sexual abuse. In addition, it can also heal tumors and cysts.
Symbol 3: This helps heal all heart-related problems. It can be used to fill the space left behind after the removal of negative energy. It can bridge rifts in relationships. It can help one develop good habits and rise over addictions. It restores balance to the heart.
Symbol 4: This symbol is suited for use at the end of a session. It works on the lower chakras and makes the patient more focused, alert and present. When used on the feet of the patient, the feet chakras are opened and the person is pulled back into the physical body. It releases negative energy and pain through the feet.
Level II Symbols
Symbol 5: This symbol heals the mind and helps connect with the Higher Self more strongly. It draws the Higher Self into the physical body. It deeply penetrates, removing emotional pain and bringing about an awareness of the cause of the pain. It improves one’s ability to learn and raises one’s creative and communication abilities. It is suitable for use along with Symbol 4 to help manifest the Higher Self on the physical plane.
Symbol 6: It is used for creating a strong connection between the spiritual and the physical planes. It helps one be guided through life in a practical manner.
Symbol 7: It helps us break free of others expectations and an unhealthy sense of responsibility toward our near-and-dear ones. It helps us act on our plans and intentions, even if they displease others. It is an Earth healing energy and helps one connect to the consciousness of flowers, crystals, trees and so on.
Symbol 8: It brings peace and builds trust. It helps heal the past and releases one from worries. It treats insomnia, nightmares, chronic fatigue or panic attacks. In combination with Symbol 3, it brings harmony into one’s life and helps achieve one’s goals. It also increases one’s clairvoyant ability.
Thus, Karuna Reiki is one step ahead of traditional Reiki and is a powerful approach to healing oneself and the Shadow Self. By dealing with the unconscious parts of one’s mind, it helps bring about a complete release from all things negative.
